It must be the other, off-the-field, stuff that justifies such a high salary.

    Marcus Corker
    The Riboflavin scandal
    The subsidized housing scandal
    Adam Robinson
    Brandon Wegher
The rape trials of Cedric Everson and Abe Satterfield
The assault of a former quarterback by a former linebacker in a parking lot

Those are just things I came up with at the top of my head. There are many others.

I forgot to add the time the Hok defensive linemen assaulted the taxi cab driver. I think that was the same dude whose former girlfriend used to stalk him at football games from the front row of the stadium despite a restraining order.

Not everyone donates. I know my uncle does a lot of money, but i know people who just get the basic seats in the endzones and there is no donation required at all. They still cost something like 780 dollars for a pair a tickets, but if you want the good seats you have to pony up a couple grand.

The reason Iowa is making so much money is because people pay to go see them play. Plain and simple and contrary to all the bashing of Barta, he is actually a pretty smart business man. He has had carver sold out a couple of times during some of the worst years in Iowa basketball, but because he knows charging 10 dollars a ticket and getting 12,000 fans is better than charging 25 and only getting 4-5,000.

I believe ferentz is worth his salary, especially when he is putting about 25% of it back into the community and the local hospitals. He actually donated enough money for one of the local elementary schools to get some new technology, so he isn't just sitting on the money for himself, he is putting it back into the community which I agree with. So regardless of his large salary, at least he is giving back to the community.

It will be interesting with him this year, if he doesn't produce I am sure there will be people calling for his head, but he has helped that program gain national respect and brought up to the top of the big ten (2002, 2004, 2005, 2009) He has had some good years followed by some bad years. I think most college programs can say that (at least the clean ones).

problem is, no matter how cheap things are at UNI you will still have people complaining that "it cost me $50 to take a family of 4 to a football game! And I didn't even notice the free parking"

People (at least those who call into tv/radio shows) want him gone. They are the same ones scared he'll go to the NFL or to Penn State...well before that Sundusky thing happened

And then there is people like panthehawk who can pay $300 to go to an Iowa football game, but cannot afford a $25 donation to UNI.

donating money does not keep you job...winning does. The Iowa fans are dolts for allowing his to scam them.

I actually like Captain Kirk. Seems like a very decent guy and good football coach. But, if Iowa has another year like last year the pitchforks will be out.

thats because iowa fans are generally retarded and overvalue their history.

i am fine with 7-5 being the floor with the occasional BCS appearance mixed in with otherwise decent bowl games.

KF bought himself some breathing room with the offseason staff overhaul. he could be making $500,000 and i would still think that losing to ISU and Minnesota regularly despite having better teams is unacceptable.

Yeah, he seems ok to me too. Probably kept some of his assistant coaches around too long... their offense has seemed pretty stale when I have watched them, but then again I'm a fan of the kind of offense that we run. It probably doesn't help that they have lost 100,000 running backs the last 5 years.
