Theres always something "better" to spend money on. Make it a priority. Its tax deductible for most people. Even 25 bucks helps.

Or you could give 25 bucks to feed some starving family in the state of Iowa. I was a member, but with one income and two kids going to private school my priority is my kids and UNI second. Sorry, I am one of the non-PCS members in Des Moines and I hate all things Iowa, Iowa State, and Drake. I currently give money to no one, just charities that help real people in need. Someday I hope to give again to the PCS, but now is not the time.

MY family comes first and I have no faith in the public k-12 school system in Des Moines. I have many priorities, but FAMILY comes first. My loyalty is to my family first, if you have a problem with that then there is something wrong with you. Too many people put things above their family, whether it work or something else which I find pathetic and what is wrong with this this state and country.

I agree 101% with 9YRPLAN on this. Pony up some money to the PSC.

If you can afford to send your kids to private school, then you can afford to give at least a little bit of money to the PSC. Listen, I am already in a couple of thousand dollars in new debt because I am budgeting money for my upcoming wedding and I've still found a little bit of money to donate to both Iowa State and UNI this year and next.

You do realize that private tuition is about 2800 dollars a kid now.

I agree with UNIMIS2001, family & faith comes first. I mean is 5 dollars a month really going to help? With the cost of everything, 5 dollars doesn't buy athletes much these days.

I personally want to be able to donate something more, when I have the money too. I am not saying a million dollars, but something along the lines of 10,000 or more. Its just a bad time right now, the economy is in the crapper and we have way too many loans right now. I still support the local school and church because that is how I was raised. Hopefully in 10 years when the house is paid off and the cars are paid off, then maybe I will be able to afford some meaningful donation.

There is thread after freaking thread after freaking thread about wanting to be seen on the same level as ISU and UI. There is thread after thread turning into discussions of how the BOR is cutting tens of thousands of dollars a year out of our athletic department (and university in general). You don't think that every freaking penny is going to help somehow?

Donations don't need to be 10-****ing-thousand dollars. There is a reason why that level of the PSC is the second highest...donations like that are slim around UNI.


I'm 24, have 2 car payments, a mortage, student loans for myself and my wife (neither of us got much fin aid in school...all loans), donate to the alumni association, friends of gallagher, PSC, United Way, and a couple other charities. It's not like we are rolling in the money either...we aren't. However, donations don't have to be big. When you throw money in the offering plate at church every week are you throwing a couple hundred/thousand bucks a week? Or do you do what most people do and throw a 5 or a 10 in there?


Same thing. Churches and charities can't exist without donations....at this point - neither can UNI.


Yep, I realize how much private school is....I also realize that private schools don't have *that much* outcomes for their students than public schools....Just because they charge 5 times as much as a public school (I actually have no idea what public schools in DM charge) doesn't mean the education is any better

clenz, PantherHok just proved that they are a lot more Hok than Panther. In fact, I would venture to guess that PantherHok is about 99.9% a Hok fan and 0.1% a Panther fan.
