Upon further inspection, it's not really the watermark thing that you see on some uniforms. It's more of a mesh thing that's only on part of the back. In case the middle of the back gets sweatier than the sides, I guess?

        thoughts on todays game......

CO-has a lot of potential on the offensive end, looked better than what i thought he would be at after reading what people had to say about his conditioning. his D was pretty good as well. interested to see how he stands up against some good competition.

Buss- this kid in my opinion could be the leading scorer on this team or close to it, even if he is coming off the bench. he is a shooter and a good one. he plays D well and you can tell he understands the game well.

AP- Same old thing. needs to learn how to use that HUGE frame and back people down.

Singleton- i dont see him doing much for this team this year. he still looks somewhat lost on the court. he seemed to lag a bit on D and was late to the ball.

Bohannon- kid will be a big time shooter as most people already expected. plays decent D.

Morrison- unfortunately i dont think he will see the court often. once AJ comes back his playing time will decrease of course. with how well i expect Buss to play as well as Bohannon and Deon he shouldnt be seeing much of the court. he still will provide some important minutes as he did last year in some games.

Martino- Same quality player he was last year. plays good D and has the ability to make some big shots.

Deon, jake, seth, Mark- we already know what we have with these guys

overall thoughts- this team has soooo much upside. the thing i like most about them is the ability to have a real inside out game. our bigs should allow for doubles and a lot of open 3's. this team often has relied a lot on the 3's but this team has some real good inside play potential. Tuttle is a beast of course and will bang down low. CO seems to have some good offensive potential down low. Jake of course provides a some good low post ability. with those 3 this team can pound the ball down low and dish out when necessary. with some small fill in time from AP and Singleton we should have no problem in the post. we already know what we have from the perimeter. AJ, Bohannon, mark, and Buss are going to be killers from outside.

how i see the lineup is deon, jake, seth, mark, and probably AJ with Bohannon (who could start) and Buss/Rank picking up big minutes off the bench. next group i see CO, Martino, Morrison picking up the next group of minutes. the last group of guys who will get playing time here and there should be AP and Singleton. A TON of depth on this team!

Actually thought marv looked really good in the 2nd half. Olivier looked much better too. He's got a long ways to go but if he pans out he could be special with those arms and athleticism.

Chip Rank did his typical work and knocked down a few 3's. I think he's an underrated shooter.

my bad, meant to add him in with the group of 4 i listed that we already know what we have. same thing from him, just quality play and he was great from 3 today.

The uniforms do have a watermark on the back. It is just a net/generic design. The UNIs look great. As far as the play goes, Buss shot the ball when he was open today. Last years exhibition he shot more times than he had minutes played. Saw no problems with the shots he was taking. In a regular game they would have someone a little more physical on him and that might disrupt his game a little.

I just had ESPN radio (no play by play). I don't know if it ever got fixed, I just turned it off aftar about 5 minutes and didn't try again.

Re: Up Next: Briar Cliff & Northern State

Generally thought they did most of what they wanted. The four returning starters maxed out at 16 minutes played (Sonnen) with Tuttle and Koch only getting 20 minutes combined. Rank also only got 12 minutes. Those 5 scored 31 points in 63 combined minutes (less than 1/2 of play) on 13 of 19 shooting, 12 assists and only 4 turnovers.

The back-ups got the bulk of the minutes and did well, though 6 assists to 16 turnovers will definitely be something Jake and the staff can drill them on for the next week.

Buss brings a nice scoring threat in, his first 4 buckets were on a rebound and put-back in traffic, a fast-break dunk on an alley-oop from Deon and a pair of nothing but net treys.

Olivier is a nice big body with some ability to score down low, though he's a bit of a black hole once the ball gets down to him. Had a nice touch on his two free throws as well. Aggresive on defense with a good sense of timing.

Bohannon looked a little shaky early, but you could see him relax when he made his three in the second half and his other bucket was a confident shot in some traffic. Will still need to work on his D but seems to have a good handle for the game-just needs to rachet up the speed factor.

I though Singleton looked good. He's been moved to more of the 3 spot rather than the post from last year. He's going to be a match-up problem at that spot with his strength against smaller guys. He also was running the point at the end of the game when it was all reserves though I doubt we see that during the regular season. (5 assists to 3 TO's is not bad).

Jake has certainly got a lot of pieces to play with and see what fits where.

He looked alright and had a couple very nice shots. Overall he's probably in the same category as Marvin and Chris, in that he will need some time to adjust to the speed of the game and Jake's defense. He was far from lost on the court but you could tell he was a new freshmen. He just looked a little awkward at times

Re: Up Next: Briar Cliff & Northern State

Although I left with about 7 minutes left in the game, I thought the team looked pretty sloppy for what I saw. I understand it was the first game of the year, but with the level of competition we were playing, there were way to many turnovers.

Morrison looked a step slow and out of control several times. He had some bad turnovers and poor shot selection.

Olivier I think is at least a year away from being a productive player. He just seemed to be a bit lost. He was aggressive on defense as far as trying to block shots. It worked yesterday against smaller, less physical opponents but I think he'll get into foul trouble doing that against a D1 post player.

I was impressed with Buss offensively and on the boards.

Marvin playing the 3 was a hard to get used to. IMO, he doesn't have the skill set and quickness to be effective as a 3 and lacks the size to play 4. He is almost reminding me of a Tyler Lange 2.0 type player where there just isn't a good spot on the floor for him.

I was impressed with Deon, Chip and Seth. Deon did a nice job finding open guys and seemed a little more tuned in on the defensive end than last year. He also hit a 15 foot pull up jumper which was new from last year. Seth just played solid minutes. Kind of took over a couple possessions early in the 2nd half and made it look easy. Very excited to watch these 2 guys for the next 3 years.

Watching the game yesterday, I thought it was clear that we won't be as deep as most of us originally thought we would be. I don't see Martino or Marvin playing a lot of meaningful minutes. Olivier I think will maybe get 10 minutes a game in spot relief. Maybe going in before a media timeout and coming out after just to give a quick rest to someone.

Biggest concerns going forward: turnovers and free throw shooting.
