Bill Krause also has made significant contributions to the McLeod Center. He is a sports fan who happened to graduate from Iowa. Hawkeyes are his first love but the Panthers aren't far behind. Close to Jersey and a number of others who wear purple and gold. Don't even start to second guess him!
Football is his first and most beloved sport...played at Iowa hence the many gifts to U of Iowa. Good for him and good for us....he has plenty of money
and Kum and Go's to go around. Don't start beating him up or putting him in a position of power he hasn't requested.

P'Woman, who is beating up Bill Krause here? As a Des Moines native, I have to defend him. He's a very nice guy, and good for him that he's Iowa's single largest donor. Nothing wrong with that. I didn't see what you were referring too, but can only guess it has an anti-Hawkeye slant to it.
I will say that Casey's pizza is better than anything similar I've had at Kum N Go. Maybe the poster you mention above will now slam Don Lambertti over their food???

Let us not forget Leon Costello - Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing and Promotions for your UNI Panthers. Throw in my wife and three kids, the rest of my immediate family and all my cousins and I have just listed the entire population of FairbankOriginally posted by GonzoCatI just find it hard to believe there are that many people from Fairbank (Chris Jans, Brooks McKowen, Sex Panther?)
I always thought the only people from Fairbank were the Corcorans.

I believe this is correct. Actually I believe he is owner\coach of the team. He was on the radio with Rima at some point this year when he attended a game.Originally posted by SteinPizzaI think Nick Nurse is coaching in a pro team in England. I remember seeing an article not too long ago mentioning this. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...too many dime draws at Fourth & Main (reference to another thread about FAC)....by Odeon. Take a break everyone.
I clarified all of my comments as hypothetical. I had a slow Friday at work and was killing time. This thread had been hijacked about twelve times before I got to it so I figured I'd interject a little of my own personal agenda into it.

Why do folks think Coach Jacobsen would follow Mac to Iowa? Would he rather be an assistant for them vs. the head guy at a school that has gone to the NCAA tourney three years in a row and is well stocked with the talent to go annually for the forseeable future?
I cannot understand the logic there? My god, it's friggin' Iowa, not Duke.
Guys don't become basketball coaches to be assistants their whole career. They want the head job, and UNI would be a heck of a 1st head coaching job for anyone right now.Winning is more fun than losing.

Your absolutely right, it likely wouldn't happen. Why wouldn't an assistant what to become head coach. I saw a rerun of today's Pardon the Interruption, and one of their subjects was Steve Alford. Both Mike and Tony questioned whether Alford will end up at IU because of his lack of winning, Alford might not want to deal with the expectations, and Mike calling Iowa a top Big 10 program with the ability to make the Final Four.Originally posted by Blue42Why do folks think Coach Jacobsen would follow Mac to Iowa? If you caught College Gamenight last night, they also were discussing Alford. Former Vermont Coach Tom Brennan was asked if he was the Indiana AD would he hire Alford, and he said no there are a lot better coaches out there. Doug Gottlieb said he would and talked about how unfair it was to judge Alford's record because during Tom Davis' last season Nick Collison, Kirk Hinrich and Kyle Korver could've been recruited but because Davis was a lame duck they weren't. Never mind that no one was recruiting Korver in the state that I'm aware of, if Collison had been signed, Reggie Evans might not have been, and I wasn't aware Hinrich would've went to Iowa. After it was suggested to Gottlieb that Alford had a few years to overcome those things, Gottlieb settled on Alford being an Indiana legend would be able to recruit Indiana well. Maybe, but how many 16 or 17-year old HS kids in Indiana know who Alford was?
I also liked Alford's answers at yesterday's news conference about Indiana. So would it be:
Caller: Congratulations Mr. Alford you won the $350 Million Powerball Lottery.
Alford: My goal is to help my players prepare and focus on winning a Big 10 championship.
Caller: But, Mr. Alford you won the lottery.

The gentlemen who sang the national anthem prior to the Bucknell game was none other than Joseph J. Rigdon from...you guessed it...Fairbank, IA. What a diverse and cultured town it is I hail from.Originally posted by GonzoCatI just find it hard to believe there are that many people from Fairbank (Chris Jans, Brooks McKowen, Sex Panther?)

Hinrich originally committed to ISU, but bailed when Floyd left for the Bulls. If I remember right Oklahoma and KU were his focus after that. And lets see, Kansas= perenial title contender and Iowa= yeah, not so much. Wonder why Raef, Nick, and Kirk all went there. As far as Korver almost every article about him his senior year talked about how Iowa did not try to recruit him. Same with Nate Funk and Ben Jacobson. IOWA IS NOT THE CENTER OF THE BASKETBALL UNIVERSE

In the case of Korver, I don't think any of Iowa's four D-I programs aggressively recruited him. My understanding was the only Iowa school he really spoke with was Drake. In the case of LaFrentz, his is an unusual situation. He grew up, because of his dad, a Kansas fan. At the time, a lot of Hawkeye fans didn't get it, that if he was a Kansas fan, and Kansas offered, then don't be surprised that he goes to Kansas.Originally posted by NJ PantherHinrich originally committed to ISU, but bailed when Floyd left for the Bulls. Regarding LaFrentz, the story I heard was that Roy Williams himself made several of the 8 hour trips up to MFL to recruit Raef, while Dr. Tom never once saw him play in high school...always sent one of his assistants. Not sure if it's true or not, but just something I heard that played heavily on why Raef didn't go to Iowa.Originally posted by DWadle1983In the case of Korver, I don't think any of Iowa's four D-I programs aggressively recruited him.
