Refs called the game really tight both ways. There were some highly questionable calls against UNI as well. We played more disciplined. Especially in the 2nd half when ODU amped up the defensive aggression.

The way we play has always made opposing fans grasp for excuses.

One of the officials went down late in the first half. They worked the remaining game with just two officials. Under those circumstances, I thought they did a really nice job. Consistently called the perimeter hand-check throughout the game, much to the dismay of the Monarch coaching staff.

You are probably correct about it being career ending, quality ref, but the last few you could tell it was getting harder and harder for him to keep up with the pace of the game.

A wide open corner three is not a low percentage shot for most of the guys taking them, yo. Pickford shouldn't be taking that shot, I'll admit, but Spencer? He can take that. I'm fine with letting him take a corner three. I'm fine with AJ shooting the pull up, that's how he got ranked as a high schooler. Was the offense a problem in the past? Yes. Is it possible that it is a problem this year as well? Sure. Am I judging the offense of this year based on how it went on opening night against a tough defense? No. Can we please wait at least a half a day before complaining about a victory?

You continue ignoring entire seasons of stats. I’ve laid out the shooting stats for the entire team and the shooters you are saying above and last year they were atrocious so you are simply ignoring the hard facts.

Guys, this is going to be a fun year.

Look at all the things that went wrong tonight:
- shot terrible from 3
- shot terrible from the line
- lazy passes resulting in live ball turnovers and easy baskets for ODU. I’m not sure how many easy transition buckets they had. Maybe 3?

All of that against a quality opponent and we still ended up leading for nearly the entire game. I would bet we aren’t going to have that combination of poor shooting and turnovers very often, which should hopefully mean good things the rest of the year.

Another fan that didn’t watch last season. Our pt guard had nearly 100 turnovers last year and far less assists while taking a world record number of threes. Team shot 42% from the field. That is abysmal. Why? Because they shoot 3’s. The 3 % was in the low 30s. The line has been moved back and jake, who has only finished once above third in the league in nine yrs and hasn’t been above .500 overall the past three, decides to shhot more. Great plan

Because it doesn't fit your notion that we were atrocious from 3 last year when we weren't? We were so poor shooting the ball from the field is because we were not good at shooting twos, not threes. A healthy Ty and AP are going to help that problem significantly this year.

In the past 9 years, UNI has SIX top 3 finishes in the Valley, including 2 NCAA tournaments and an NIT.
