Bottom line is, the program is in neutral in a ho hum conference.

Preeeetty sure the second year you're referring to we beat North Carolina...and a top 5 Iowa State team...and won at Wichita. Also we made the second round of the NCAA tournament. But sure, complete failure until St.Louis

To be fair, CU has had some good teams and been nationally relevant since leaving the MVC. I remember them being mediocre for a season or two, but that’s it. The last few years have seen them be good enough to be ranked in season. National relevance means more than just purely tournament wins. The MVC would kill to get them back in the league.
