I do wonder how credible the source was that he was interviewing for the job vs. being "interviewed" as it relates to MN looking at Johnson. Very common for AD's to do background/character/etc. checks in this manner. It's nothing but speculation on my part, but seems somewhat surprising they'd be interviewing Jake on Saturday (at best) and then landed on Johnson and come to terms for an announcement by Monday afternoon. It's possible they were focusing on Johnson, negotiating terms and doing their checks (with Jake and others) over the weekend in prep for a Monday announcement.

I think part of Jake interviewing with Univ Mn can be fact finding / bench-marking scenario. I know that in the manufacturing world both companies and individuals utilize interview sessions as a way of gathering intelligence.

Is that correct? Matthew Bain from the DMR initially tweeted saying we did, but then retracted it saying he meant UNO, not UNI. He looks like a real nice player, able to shoot and slash. We didn't offer him out of HS did we?

That was later corrected by bain. We have not reached out, it was UNO (Omaha), not UNI. I'd be surprised to if UNI reached out.

No idea, if it will happen. But I wonder what could be the possible reason for them bringing up a MVC assistant to a coach they didnt want? hmm lol

That'd be...interesting. Keeping AJ is the big plus, obviously, but getting some fresh blood in for the bigs coach, right as we're getting a high floor seven footer, is a move that could either flounder or lead to sustained success. Add in that we don't necessarily need his Minneapolis ties as we're already kinda good there, if they want to splurge a bit for a quality recruiter, that could be a move that pays off dividends. But again, a lot of "coulds."

Head coaches and assistant coaches come and go. And I can live with that. I just cant live with the incompetence of Iowa State basketball costing us the 2 best players in program history. I may not handle it well haha. Please please dont let that happen..
