What proved it to me was when the Koch brothers kept coming here. You can be sold a bill of goods during recruiting, but your older brother will tell you what is really going on/how you are treated.
The money that Loyola is sitting on in boosters, alumni, endowment and real estate would make most of the Big East blush.[/
Correct on all fronts. The value of the real estate alone would probably shock many. Not that they’d ever sell, but if you put a monetary figure on it there would be a whole bunch of zeros and commas in the number.

Honestly can't tell if this is a really well-informed spam bot, or something funky is going on.Originally posted by Cruyff View Post
I'm a Loyola alum and have to say you're spot on. Loyola is the second biggest landowner in the city of Chicago behind only the City of Chicago. You can imagine the land value of both their Watertower Place campus and their Lakeshore Campus (remember, there is very little private property that touches Lake Michigan in the city limits). Most of the lakefront is protected from development. Even outside the city, the Medical School Campus and the Seminary are either on valuable land or have a large footprint.

As a former city resident, the info is correct. When he/she says “touches” Lake Michigan, that’s semantics. There are plenty of high rises which “touch” Lincoln Park, or Lakeshore Drive, which in turn touch the lake.Originally posted by panther-state View Post

I thought it was interesting to see former Valley guy Keno Davis fired from Central Michigan this morning. Coached just one year at Drake losing as a 5 seed and never got back to the dance with either Providence or Central Michigan. To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

If I remember correctly, wasn’t his uncle an assistant on the staff? Guessing his uncle is gone along with Pitino. Also guessing Robbins will have a lot of interest. He played pretty well for them.Originally posted by CyCarp View PostWow, I wonder if he regrets leaving Drake...

He's going to have a ton of interest. I would imagine he will get to go to pretty much any school he wants. How many athletic 7 footers are out there? He's proven he can play at the high major level. I feel like I'm seeing a lot of Drake fans laughing about this and I just don't get it. Drake played better without him this year and the additions of Hemphill and Brodie, and Liam proved he can play high major ball well. Seems like a win win for everyone involved. I would understand if AJ wanted to go somewhere and play high major ball. It would suck, but I guess I don't understand hating on a player looking for bigger opportunities. I'm all for supporting players during and after they are with the program.Originally posted by DownGoesKansas View PostGotta think Iowa recruit's him hard
Not unheard of amongst privates. Columbia owns a bunch of the real estate in Manhattan (second most addresses; seventh most in terms of space). When I worked at a private school on the west coast (Claremont McKenna), I learned that they had aggressively bought up much of the land around the campus in the '80s and '90s, which by the turn of the century was starting to be developed (they also have an endowment of about $850 million, just under $200 million is unrestricted).Originally posted by BCPanther View PostThe money that Loyola is sitting on in boosters, alumni, endowment and real estate would make most of the Big East blush.[/
