  • Temple and Memphis, at minimum, have to be looking for new homes now too.

Temple would be a natural fit in the A10 but they've got FBS Football, so they're kind of stuck. Memphis has tons of money, a decent location and lots of good basketball tradition, the problem is that they don't do a very good job of playing by the rules and hiring Larry Brown as a basketball assistant says they aren't real worried about changing that.

Yeah, but think of all the great steaks they had since leaving the MVC.

        • Looks like some potentially brutal news for Indiana State. Tyreke Key is weighing his options but could potentially be out for the season with shoulder surgery. He could choose not to have surgery and play through the injury, but it sounds like he has dislocated it multiple times over the last few years. Sycamores are a very interesting team to me this season, but this would definitely change things for them offensively.

          • Ugh that's awful and we definitely know what it's like to lose the face of your program right at the start

Without Key, they're a bunch of D2 guys and Cooper Neece trying to play a style that hasn't worked in this league since it got good again.

Good luck Trees, I'm sure speeding up UNI, Loyola and Drake won't be a problem...

              • Figured I'd bump this thread as the off-season nears.

So many unknowns at this point. I am excited to see the type of player Duax will be though.

Not going to happen but I am really hoping for a Foster/Henry reunion.

Has Coach Jake had any conversations with Xavier Foster? I'm not too familiar with what happened at ISU other than the charges were dismissed/thrown out. Not sure if Xavier has kept in shape or would be real sharp after a year off but a 7' athletic dude could really help.

                    • Xavier has said that if he's going to play again, he's going somewhere warm.

I see absolutely no chance of him coming here, he's going to have P6 programs all over him.

                      • I'm under the assumption AJ is gone, Phyfe is 51/49

The biggest factor (other than AJ) is going to be Noah. If he is back we will largely be fine. If he's gone (I've heard nothing just the reality of 2022) we could be in some trouble.

                        • Bowen Born is going to have to be the man. He, Heise, Duax and Campbell isn't a terrible core but it's one with literally zero margin for error.

If we lose the others but keep Noah, that gives us a core trio of Carter-Born-Heise to build around for two years. If we lose Carter, the only upperclassmen on the roster is Betz.

That's a solid core to build on. Noah being gone would cause issues.

Phyfe's dad said over the weekend that if he has anything to say about it, Austin will be back. But it is going to depend on how his lungs heal with the scaring. So on the plus side, Steve wants him to play some more at UNI. I don't see AJ returning either but that's more about not wanting to get my hopes up that no NCAA appearances will cause him to want to come back.

Henry has to develop into a post player. The problem is that he wasn't given the keys to the car for the last two months of the season even to go around the block.
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times
