A lot of the choice may depend on perceived playing time and who's on the roster. ISU obviously a step down in exposure, but is still P5 competition as a starter every game. Here is a recent post on how Duke is looking: https://balldurham.com/2022/05/01/du...rowing-roster/

I would think after decisions are made in June and the NBA Draft has come and gone we'll get somebody. Yeah, it's unsettling how difficult it has been to get transfers or high school kids. Cedar Falls is a cold Winter with not much to do. We don't have a practice floor. We only get on regional TV etc. Iowa State is 7th place next season at best the First Four, but looks like NIT. Yeah, AJ could get them to 5th place and a 9 or 10 seed. Duke with AJ can be Final Four.Originally posted by unipanther2154 View PostI really hope it’s the NBA or Duke. Having said that I think it will be ISU. I would just rather seem him compete for a national championship since he’s not coming back here. The team will be interesting next year knowing we don’t have him. It does worry me we haven’t been able to add a player via the portal yet. Who knows who could fall in our lap but we just tend to strike out too often.Last edited by BrockLesnar; 05-18-2022, 02:07 PM.

He looks like a several minute guy in either G League or Duke.Originally posted by CincyPanther88 View PostDuke reserve forward Joey Baker has entered the transfer portal. With AJ's visit today and this, Duke fans feel strongly AJ is going to Duke.

If you believe in the crystal ball predictions, AJ just got one for Duke. Right now an Iowa State insider has him to Iowa State and a Duke insider has him to Duke, so I'm not sure how much I put into these.Last edited by CyCarp; 05-19-2022, 08:17 AM.To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

Whatever Green decides I'm with him. It's his future. It's rather selfish to hope he doesn't choose Iowa State. I can see the reasons for wanting to go with them besides his dad. He would be their leader. He would take most of the shots. He could make First Team All Big 12. His draft stock would be enhanced for 2023.

Playing at Duke would do more for his draft stock than playing in Ames.Originally posted by BrockLesnar View PostWhatever Green decides I'm with him. It's his future. Playing at Duke gives him better players to work with. He could be 3rd team all ACC plus 1st team newcomer.Originally posted by Blue42 View Post

Honestly, I wish AJ the best, but I'm bored with talking about what he might possibly do. Truthfully, I don't care. I hope an NBA team takes a liking to him and he gets to live his dream while also bringing some publicity to the university. That's the extent of it. Who cares what college team he chooses? ISU or Duke would both provide him with the opportunities necessary to do whatever he wants to do next. I wish we were talking about guys we are bringing in the portal or a new assistant coach, but that's obviously not the case right now.

AJ's decision will be the only news for the foreseeable future. A new coach or transfers will take longer, but I'm sure we can figure it out. The rest of the MVC are in the same boat.Last edited by BrockLesnar; 05-19-2022, 09:58 PM.

Yea, it'll be an eye opener for a lot of guys. I read an article about a kid from Radford. He entered the portal last year, didn't get any other D1 offers and didn't want to step down to D2. Radford had filled his scholarship, so he ended up going back there as a walk on. Especially over the next couple years where a lot of guys still have the extra COVID season, it's really risky to enter the portal for a lot of guys. The studs like AJ are a bit of a different story, but still. According to Verbal Commits, there are still 846 guys who are uncommitted and in the portal. This doesn't include D2, JUCO, etc. Crazy stuff.Originally posted by Leatherhelmet View PostI wonder how many transfer portal players will end up nowhere, blowing a full ride. AJ likely to take as long as he can before deciding to return to college or go pro.
