We've done better recently with lower expectations. We knew we'd get no credit this time from the media, but they have absolutely no clue either.

Coming off of a 10-15 season, with little change to the team, I'm not sure what we would be expecting from the mythical "media." They're like a boogeyman with some folks.Originally posted by MNpanthers View PostWe knew we'd get no credit this time from the media, but they have absolutely no clue either.

This year is going to be even more of a crapshoot than last year. So many players coming back for an extra year in addition to mixing in new kids. Mid-majors used to get that edge with 5th year seniors, now pretty much everyone will have that kind of depth/experience.Originally posted by MNpanthers View PostWe've done better recently with lower expectations. Yep. No changes other than the best player in the league playing. Probably won't make any difference at all.Originally posted by A Fan In Lean Years View PostComing off of a 10-15 season, with little change to the team, I'm not sure what we would be expecting from the mythical "media." Little change to the team has got to be a troll job.Originally posted by A Fan In Lean Years View PostComing off of a 10-15 season, with little change to the team, I'm not sure what we would be expecting from the mythical "media." They're like a boogeyman with some folks.
Remember when AJ carried an objectively much less talented UNI team to a conference championship just 2 years ago?
And no I don't count or give a crap about the throwaway season last year. 10-15 without our top 2 point guards and Pickford still recovering for the better half of the season, in a once in a lifetime freak season where everything was strange and no crowds. The only takeaway is all those guys got amazing experience figuring out how the offense works when AJ is sitting.
We've got the 2019 MVP, the reigning FOTY and an all-MVC freshman team returner, a first team all MVC caliber big man, a lights out shooting guard, and plenty of support. Defense should be significantly improved over last year too.

I think you mean "4th best player in the league". To be clear, there are a handful of issues I have with these rankings, not just UNI players.

This list loses all credibility right here:Originally posted by PantherAlum09 View Post

If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

But the real question is does adding the 58th best mid major prospect in this perfect ranking even make us better for next year? I would argue that its almost subtraction by addition....Originally posted by BCPanther View PostThat list also has the Gonzaga guys on it and the worst recency bias I've ever seen.
