Obviously we have no idea at this point what the rest of the league's rosters will look like yet, they may bring in some awesome players like Drake did last year, but with that said we *should* be setting ourselves up really nicely next year with all of the talent and continuity we have returning next year.

I really hope our team realizes the opportunity they have and are ready to compete at a high level from day 1 next year. You have to take advantage of these opportunities when they come.

I for sure have the same pessimism as I do optimism.

I guess we shall see.

Although it was against low end mid majors, do keep in mind that UNI beat two tournament teams in Montana and Omaha pretty handedly. Also, all 5 teams they lost to were in either the NIT or the Crown. I have more optimism than pessimism that they can pull off a run like 14-15 again, albeit with the right roster.

I still like the roster and am optimistic (as usual) - a full year of healthy Bond and RJ, carryover scoring from Schweiger, development from Weisbrod and Hornseth, hopefully Pock...good freshman coming in...a portal pick up still to happen. We usually see a player or to take a step up each offseason, no reason it can't continue.

Nojus Indrusaitis into the portal from Iowa State. This would be a home run - not sure if he would still be viewed as P5 conf guy or not after getting passed by on the depth chart. Was known as quite the shooter in HS.

He doesn't fit the mold for where we've gone in the portal in the past. I would love to have him because clearly if he stayed the whole season in Ames he'll work hard on the defensive end.

I bet we are talking to Matt Reed if I had to guess. I don't know if he would have that much interest in coming all the way up here, but he was really considering us out of high school. He would definitely fit Hutty's role. I do wonder if the staff thinks highly enough of Jirak that they would feel it's redundant.

I would agree. Out of all the names that have been proposed, Matt seemed to be the most realistic one. And that lines up with Coach Jake's comment of searching for an experienced big man.

The other thing with Jirak is that he's going to have a pretty steep strength and conditioning curve. He went a little too far in putting on weight and added some bad weight. He's probably a short stretch guy this year. We need some experience behind Will regardless.

Thanks. Just gave it a watch and he definitely emphasized the need for a big. There were a ton of games this year where we were fortunate to depend on Ty playing a small 5 when Hutty or Hornseth was in foul trouble or banged up so I get it.

I do think it's interesting, though, that he started the conference by talking about how we just missed a lot of open looks against SMU. We did execute well and I thought we played well overall, but man I still have a lot of concerns that shooting is going to bite us if we don't do something to address it. Hopefully they can get some big time improvement from Ben, Leon, Max, Pock, etc. We are going to need them out there.
