What about the guy who just got fired at Kennesaw State, Brian Bohannon? Had a lot of success in FCS there before they moved up. A columnist at the Atlanta Journal Constitution seems to think he really got the shaft and the university didn't fund the program well. The cons would be that he didn't do well when he moved up a level and while the MVFC isn't FBS, it's a big step up in competition.

NW MO state HC is an interesting option. I like the idea of the OC from army too.
I'd love to see us go with a dynamic OC type from a successful FCS school or D2.
if we want to get crazy Eric Sanders is coaching HS ball in FL
100% agree on anyone who's a coordinator at the next level...they all make a ton of money and don't take a bulk of the heat when things go wrong.

President Nook has done a great job of telling UNI's story, explaining it's worth, demonstrating who our peers really are, and how UNI can be successful. It seems to be working with the current version of the BOR, and even the state legislature to a degree. The days of just treating us like a mini-Iowa or mini-ISU might be in the past.__________________

2.He is a triple-option coach who does not use any players of size like you need in the Valley
3. When I say he is a triple-option coach I mean that is literally the only thing he has coached. Go back to point 1
3a. You can argue "he moved to a pistol option offense this year" with the FBS move, but got him the worst offensive production he's ever had
4. He certainly built a hell of a record book at Kennesaw, in the Big South. If you really dig into his record you'll see that once you take out the non-D1s, the fact he got conference games against the ASUN/OVC/Big South, and not fully funded FCS programs his record drops real hard real fast. He feasted on an area of the country with a lot of schools but a lot of schools that don't even fund or support football at a level that even WIU did.
He had 70 wins coming into this past season 15 of them were sub D1 teams. That is 55 wins against D1 teams. Now remember he coached in the Big South/ASUN/OVC combos. Then he had 4 wins against the SWAC. He has 4 games against leagues that are considered top 4 leagues on a yearly basis. He is 2-2 in those. Sounds great, right?
1-1 vs the Valley and Big Sky
The wins were a sub .500 Montana State team in 2017 and a 1 win Missouri State team in 2019.
62 of the 70 wins came against this list of teamsAlabama State Campbell Charleston Southern Clark Davidson Dixie State Duquense ETSU Edward Waters Gardner-Webb Hampton Jacksonville State Lincoln Monmouth North Alabama North Greenville Point Presbyterian Reinhardt Robert Morris Shorter UT-Martin Tenn Tech Tusculum VA Lynchburg Wofford
5. He turns 54 in one month. While not the oldest coach by any stretch, we need to be looking younger. If we are going to be mid-50s for coaching age it needs to be someone super established with success in the upper-midwest.
TL;DR: he certainly wouldn't be the worst possible choice. I had discussions with some right after all the news about Farley retiring and Bohannon being let go and I wasn't opposed to it. However, the more I looked into him and his history the more I realize he shouldn't be the choice, or even have resources spent trying to vet him and how he would work in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Would expand the population base we could recruit from with instate tuition from 3.2 million to 21 million.
Winning is more fun than losing.

Bettendorf grad. Very successful head coach at Kansas Wesleyan (42-17), now OL coach at Army (undefeated this year). Makes 200k there, so it would be a pay bump for him. All around good dude.
