    I don't believe he did.

I think he xferred to Iowa State.

Correct. He decided against D3 and went that way.

      • For anybody curious, the NBA Summer League starts Friday for former Panthers. Games of interest are below, times are CST. I expect AJ to see a lot of minutes since he's a 2 way guy, hopefully Isaiah gets some also - especially when they play each other next week.

        Dallas Mav's (Isaiah Brown #39)
        7/8 vs Chicago 3:00 ESPNU
        7/11 vs Utah 9:00 NBATV
        7/12 vs Phoenix 9:00 ESPN2
        7/14 vs Milwaukee 6:00 ESPNU

        Milwaukee Bucks (AJ Green #20)
        7/8 vs Brooklyn 6:00 NBATV
        7/11 vs Boston 7:00 NBATV
        7/13 vs Minnesota 3:00 NBATV
        7/14 vs Dallas 6:00 ESPNU

Additional games TBD on 7/16 and 7/17.

        • This feels like an Onion headline. But personally I love it. If the NCAA committee did this, it would fix the selection process overnight.

Scoop—@WACSports is doing the unprecedented: Its basketball tournaments' standings/seedings will be determined not by league record, but by a KenPom-created formula that utilizes the NET and will reward teams wins and losses. A college sports first. Story: https://t.co/pryiZDhPf4
Yeah, a D+ effort out of me on the day I created the name for this account. I didn't think I would use this account more than once.

I agree. There are so many advanced stats, there's so much technology, I don't understand why there's a selection committee. There are a ton of smart people out there who can (and do) create different ranking systems. Find or create the best one and go with it for at large bids and seeding.

            • I could certainly see it for the selection committee since the criteria is in many ways arbitrary anyway, but seems a bit strange for something like league play where everyone plays each other in a round robin anyway.

I guess you could argue if conferences were larger, and there were more variability in schedules you could use this.

The NCAA does not want want the process to be fair and balanced. The committee exists so the at-large selections will result in the largest possible TV viewing audience and thus the most money for the war fund for the NCAA. Teams like Niagara and East Tennessee St.wont result in great TV ratings unless they make a Sweet 16 run.

In the Vincent Hall (math building, University of Minnesota) there is a poster presentation for a project that student comparing outcomes based on KenPom and I believe NCAA tournament seeding and other ranking/polling tool. It was a small sample size used, but KenPom was the winner. Next time I am there and think of it, I will snap a photo.
                  "Well, that escalated quickly."

I didn't know this research existed. I actually did it myself a couple years back and came to the same conclusion. I think I made it back 5 or 10 years and found that over time, kenpom rankings projected NCAA tournament results better than the selection committee did.

As was pointed out above, the committee doesn't really care about this, it's job is to create the most revenue in a way that is fairish

Research? Not really. It looks like a poster presentation. I do not recall if the student was an undergrad or a grad. I recall it was a small sample size from 2019 or so. I will try to snap a photo when I am back in there.

                      • The KenPom theory is that the only teams capable of winning the national title are Top 25 in offense and defense by his metric.

Ok so I found my excel file on my hard drive. I guess I only made it 4 years; it took a lot of work.

In 2019, the committeeseeding got 69.4% of NCAA tournament games "right.". Kenpom "pedicted" 73.1%. Torvik came in at 70.1%

2018, the expert suits got 67.7%. Ken Pomeroy's computer got 71.6. Torvik 64.2.

                          2017 saw a lot of chalk: committee 77.4. Kenpom 70.1. Torvik 65.7.

                          2016: committee 67.7. Kenpom 74.6. Torvik 70.1.

Average during that 4 year span:
                          Kenpom 72.4%
                          Committee 70.6.
                          Torvik 67.5.

And that is why I talk about kenpom all the time and tend to stay away from Torvik. Someday I will update this to increase the sample size
