I don't think his status really makes a difference on this team's floor but it sure matters for it's ceiling.
Floor either way, there is enough talent to finish in the top half of the league. With Phyfe, they're not playing on Thursday and contending for the 1 seed.

Honestly the ambiguity can be a sort of hinderance as well though rather than clear cut yes or no. Phyfe is a great locker room Prescence on a team that lacks a lot of 4-5 even 6 year guys that other programs will have. But on the other side in a scenario he's not a full go doing split minutes like last year and cutting into Henry's development and lineup building minutes it can definitely make things a bit rockier there as opposed to growing with a starter from day 1.

That’s a diplomatic way of saying it. It’s going to be a young team and a rough year this season. As a fan, I have to remind myself of that to temper my expectations. I would encourage others to try it.

        • Bo Boroski has retired and, although he was doing only a limited Valley schedule in the past few years, I'm not sure how the league or the sport will go on without him.

Who is even the MVC coordinator of officials these days? If we needed one, Bo would be outstanding.

Eddie Jackson but with the consortiums we fall under Curtis Shaw and the Big 12.

With Mike Eades retiring last year and losing Boroski and Wymer this year, the Big Ten is really in a rebuilding period.

Chris Rastatter from the Pac 12 and Mountain West is the new national coordinator of officials and, hopefully, he can get the physical play cleaned up. JD Collins sure failed there.

              • The B1G still hasn't replaced Rick Boyages as far as I know. Definitely a time of transition.

Henry is a big peace of the pie. I look for a big season from Born. We have other good players that are either unproven or need to take steps forward. So, that group would be Henry, Heise, Anderson, Duax, Wolf and Campbell. Out of the rest I see Peksari playing right away in a limited role. The rest are good practice guys. So, having Phyfe makes the difference between a 9 man rotation and only 8. With Phyfe I could see third place with an NIT bid. The schedule is decent. We'll take our lumps, regardless.

                  • There's just such little chance the team repeats the offensive efficiency it had last year.

But if Born gets 17, Heisse gets 14, Phyfe in 25 minutes provides 10/11, we get 15 out of Anderson/Duax, and then 13/14 off the bench, you could be still looking at 70 PPG with what should be an improved defense.

                        • Decent crowd, young and old alike. Women’s and men’s players looked like they enjoyed the occasion. Nice temporary BB court setup. Good food trucks and plenty to drink. Ample AD representatives to pass out freebies and run the show. Free T-shirts from Structure Real Estate. Left a bit early, so did not hear Ben speak (if he did?) though did hear him on radio (KCNZ) just prior. Didn’t see Harris, but guess that doesn’t mean he didn’t show. Betz, Duax, Henry looked huge. Anderson looked like he’d grown an inch, but I have no verification of that. Beautiful fall evening. Hope it’s an annual occurrence.

Let’s all hope Phyfe’s appointment next week at Mayo goes well. He’s a class act. Was a joy to watch him interact with the kids tonight.

It's all good if Doc clears you before Halloween. You gotta give UDub all they can handle!
