I want to hear a press conference with the St. Louis officials who made the decision. Have we heard a complete explanation from their perspective? Who decided what and on what basis? Seems like a fairly reasonable thing to request.

Duax isn't redshirting. The other two I could see but Duax can help from the moment he walks on campus.

Correct. It's a mess to try to track for the next 4 years.

graduated as in getting their college degree
or just as in they would have exhausted their basketball eligibility had this year counted toward that?

Sure he's good enough to contribute from day 1 but who's minutes does Duax take??? AJ, Bowen, Trea, Kimmons, Heise, Pickford, Mar...we're just so deep at guard/wing. Why waste a year of eligibility trying to squeeze minutes for a true freshman? Instead save that year of eligibility for 4 years down the road.

One thing that really needs to be considered is the size of each class. This extra year given to everybody just makes things clear as mud. Maybe Born and Heise want to take extra years, which would put them in the same class as Duax, but that also cloud up other years. I do wonder if Coach Jake tells guys they can use the extra year, but they have to pay their way for it or something. It's going to be such a cluster bleep and mess with recruiting so much.
To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

You can't really ask them to pay their own way. I mean, you can ask, but they're more likely to transfer than pay their own way. It sounds like the NCAA is going to pass the one time transfer exception, so they'd be able to do so penalty free.

Jake is just going to have to talk to the players (especially the juniors) about their plans to figure out how many scholarships he has available for recruiting each year. It wouldn't be binding, but is should give him some idea. Also, the new transfer rule should give us some additional flexibility. They will more players to choose from in the spring if we have a scholarship unexpectedly open up.

Kids at Duax's level don't come to redshirt. The game has SO changed on that. Kids come to play and if they don't, they find somewhere where they will, especially now that don't have to sit out.

I've been wondering the same. I barely even follow basketball marginally, but it would seem to me that if it was the "scandal" that it's being made out to be that there would be some public statements and conversation about it.

To date, I've only read things here, with much of the "information" being negligible, at best.

Self edit: this statement from the conference, as well as the article, noting where other teams were cancelled as well, seems reasonable to me. Rules are rules, and policies are policies. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...thers-canceled

As far as where Duax’s minutes would come from...Mar. so much more upside
And if anyone had been watching college basketball lately Freshman can definitely play immediately

But Mar barely had any minutes this year, and with AJ, Kimmons (?), Tywon, and Trae (?) back, hard to see him having many (or any) projected minutes for Duax to take. I get that Duax has to play or he will look elsewhere, it will just be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

If Pickford comes back I think Mar's minutes will be modest.

You have to get Tytan on the floor and let him develop...he could be great.

And agree you have to find Duax some minutes.

I know Mar didn't get a lot of minutes but he didn't show much when he played. Given he's 4 years into college hoops that is not a great sign. I sincerely hope I'm wrong on that and he's got a lot more horsepower we haven't seen yet.

I've not found anywhere conclusively where it was a false positive. Have you?
