  • AJ got 7 minutes in the first half tonight. 2-3 from 3, leads team in box +/-

Unfortunately, while the Bucks scored 60 in the first half, the Hornets scored 84 and AJ’s team-leading box +/- is zero.

Damn. AJ played 18 minutes, scored 13 points and had a +6 +/-. Nobody else on the team had a positive +/- and everybody who played more minutes than him had a negative double digit +/-.

      • Easily his most involved game so far, 5-8 from the field, 3-6 from three point land, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and no TOs and only one foul. He actually was the second-highest scorer on the team, behind Bobby Portis. That's right, he outscored Gianna, Jrue Holiday, and Brook Lopez. Bad look for the team, great look for him.

        • I think he’s playing pretty good defense. No, he’s not laterally quick enough to stop guys one on one. But he’s consistently there. A lot of times in transition he’s the one (or one of the two) ahead of the fast break. And sometimes he disrupts it. He also does a good job of cheating in from his shooter and disrupting a posted up player.

And that’s the big difference in the nba and college.

Far more often than not all it takes is “being there” because there is so much other help and length coming from the back side. That doesn’t happen in college where things are so system oriented that you aren’t allowed that help in space. It’s part of why some guys are so good in college and seem like sure shot NBA guys but they never make it and other times giys who were okay in college have decade plus long careers. It’s entirely different and filling a niche/specialty role will keep you around forever but won’t as much in college.

            • The Milwaukee Bucks were blown off their home floor by the Charlotte Hornets last night, and here are three takeaways from the contest.

              • Giannis Antetokounmpo, Grayson Allen, Khris Middleton, Serge Ibaka and Joe Ingles all out tonight for Bucks - I wouldn't be surprised to see AJ get a decent amount of minutes tonight.

I watched a good chunk of the 4th quarter last night, and it was pretty painful to watch on Milwaukee's end. They were playing some abysmal offense until Jrue Holiday took over late. The 24 second shot clock definitely speeds up offense, but it also leads to some terrible offensive possessions and shots. The two man game can be really cool, but Giannis was struggling last night and some of those possessions were hard to watch. AJ was playing, though. Here's to hoping he gets a lot of run tonight.

Nice job on Giannis's last name! I have no earthly idea if it's right but you deserve all sorts of credit for the effort!

Ha, well I actually just copied it from Twitter when I saw it - wouldn't try spelling that one myself.

                          • He is now averaging over 4 ppg despite inconsistent minutes. Is shooting 49% FG and is leading the team in 3 pt %. All as an undrafted rookie on one the the NBA’s best teams.

He’s really doing it. He belongs there, and is forcing his way into more playing time and a very long and lucrative career.

Career high 15 points for AJ! The way he's playing he may get his contract guaranteed!

The Bucks are going to have to make a decision. He's on pace to be out of dates by mid-March and he's going to give them no choice but to convert him as long as he continues to shoot like this. They're also shopping Grayson Allen as part of a possible Jae Crowder deal to get Giannis some help in the front court. If Allen is dealt, it's going to open more minutes for AJ, plus AJ isn't the massive piece of **** that Allen is.
