Curious if any team has had our number in the last 15 years (Teams we've played more then once)? Anyone have the stats on that?

Creighton won a bunch in a row against us late Mac/early Jake, but other than that we've more than held our own against all consistent opponents.

We've split with Wichita every year during their run except (obviously) the undefeated year.

And for others, loudmouth idiot doesn't work. As a former athlete, I could tell when a coach yelled at me because he wanted me to play to my potential and I could tell when he knew what I needed to do to improve and when others were just yelling and clueless.
There's too many unknowns to blame or criticize Fran with certainty. However, in general, his teams have not seemed psychologically ready to win. When a whole team regularly goes cold shooting every second half, there's something in their heads. I look at his on court reactions and tend to believe he's a coach that's tough to respect.

I agree with most of this, and I'm a athletic has been too 😊. Iowa definitely has had some "head" issues under Fran, but definitively pinning down the blame is awfully tough.

No - apples and oranges. His demeanor and wins, losses, trends, etc., are two different things. I think he's probably got a lot of type A, control freak jerk in him, so I'd agree with many of you on that. That and on court performance are two entirely different things. If being a bombastic a$$ dictated losses, then 75% of football coaches in America would lose every weekend. These guys are paid to win games. Calm works for some, loudmouth idiot works for others.

You know Fran coaches basketball right? Your comparison is apples to oranges. His demeanor is 100% why they suck at the end of the season and in close games. He yells at them SO much that they are afraid to take risks and make a mistake. They tighten up. Basketball is different than football in coaching sense.

Players take on the mentality of their coach, especially late in the year and in close games. Which is what made the TAMU ending so out of the ordinary for UNI. They panicked. That's not Jake and it's never really been the team.

You can see it from teams that aren't top 10 type teams or don't have hall of fame coaches. Sure, Coach K, Bo Ryan, Calipari, etc... all scream, a lot. They are also among the best coaches all time.

Watch Iowa players faces towards the end of games, especially late in the season, as Fran is doing his thing. You can see the complete disinterest. The "Here we go again" look on their faces.






I don't doubt he has a good relationship with his players, that he doesn't scream at them all the time, any of that. It's pretty clear to see what the pattern is though.

We panicked against KU, it just wasn't as extreme of as the TAMU meltdown.

AJ is really trying to make it clear that he wanna other schools to look at him, but the other schools still have the mentality that he's going to end up at UNI anyway, so there's no reason to pursue him

He'd be the highest nationally ranked basketball recruit ever (as a junior), and the highest non-wrestling nationally ranked recruit since Whitney Lewis, I believe.
