Sure, but think of all the Spotted Cow you could drink, Friday night fish fries, Wild Turkey available during ice fishin, cheese and porn shops along I-90, etc.

      Kidding aside, you are correct.

There was a story on the news tonight that left me scratching my head more than normal. I can't vouch for it's accuracy, but they reported that Stanford was offering a full ride MBA program to people from the midwest who agreed to return to the midwest and work 2 years after graduating. Well they said $160K for a two year program, would that be a full ride?

I don't get what is in that deal for Stanford, but maybe I will take them up on it. My GMAT score was high enough to get me in 35 years ago I wonder if they would still accept it? Also I already have an MBA from Iowa and am supposed to be retired, but those shouldn't be obstacles. For reasons that seemed important at the time I didn't want to leave Iowa 35 years ago, but I'd love to go to Stanford now.

          Gonzo-
This is what you're talking about.
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

I thought the same thing - why is Stanford trying to promote the Midwest? Nice gesture I guess, but how do they hope to benefit? Maybe they're trying for some geographical diversity in the student base, but there are plenty of other people who would gladly go there. They could also be trying to better position themselves within the ranks of major Midwest based corporations??? Just throwing out possibilities. If anyone has any insight, let's see it.

Spotted Cow sucks. Serendipity, Raspberry Tart, and Belgian Red are what's best at New Glarus.

Maybe they feel bad about the Rose Bowl halftime show.

                  Nah, probably not.
                  "Well, that escalated quickly."

There's an article in today's DMR stating Kyle Green will be attending Iowa State's Hilton Madness along with five other recruits.

Also, does anyone know if we're looking at Tyreke Locure from DSM North? He's one of the others visiting ISU with Green. He's only a Sophomore, but lead 4A in assists last year as a Freshman, and also averaged 13.3 ppg for a pretty athletic North team. Pretty impressive, especially when you consider it's against large school competition.

FWIW, the other Iowa high school invitee is Xavier Foster from Oskaloosa. Sounds like he could potentially blow up Harrison Barnes / Marcus Paige style. He's only a Freshman.

Yeah, I resigned myself to the fact he's not coming here months ago.

Article says Purdue is in on him as well now.

Great for the kid, bad for us...

Agreed. Any word on Locure? I edited my post above.

He was at UNI Elite Camp this summer, but other than that I haven't heard anything.

I have faith in our coaching staff. Unless AJ gets an offer from one of the "blue bloods" of college basketball like Kansas, Duke, Carolina, Kentucky, etc., he'll become a Panther.

It would be great to get AJ as I think he's a program changing player but to think he is coming to UNI is a stretch. He still has another AAU season before he has to commit. This kid is a high major recruit and we are a mid major school. I still hope like crazy we pull off what would be an upset and get this kid on campus. You've seen us offer some more 18' kids lately so I think the writings on the wall.

I think football season is wearing on the fans' perception of UNI basketball! Jake hasn't lost any games yet this year!
