I wouldn't say that Iowa State recruits well in the state, but they did pick up Michael Jacobson from Waukee (transferring from Nebraska).

    • I'd be shocked to see AJ go to Iowa St. Very shocked.
To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

In retrospect...McDermott leaving was a boon to UNI basketball. We got Jake...then went on to win NCAA tourney games and make the Sweet 16.

            • The AAU season is now over I believe for the Barnstormers. We should get a decision soon from AJ. I really don't think a big enough school came around that will challenge us enough to get him. The Virginia offer was pretty late in the game. This kid is definitely a program changing talent at our level and he plays arguably the most important position on the court. I'm excited for the possibilities but still pretty cautious about his decision. Either way I'm gonna pull for this kid regardless.

              • I know this means nothing regarding his recruitment, but I walked through the McLeod Center this morning on a school visit with my son and there were three guys doing shooting drills together - Seth Tuttle, Wes Washpun and AJ Green. It was cool to see the past and hopefully future Panthers working together like that. Also cool that an Iowa high school kid has access to that kind of talent for workout partners!

                  Very cool. Thanks for sharing!

This would kinda be weird if he weren't coming here, right?

Not necessarily. I've heard of other situations where guys from various teams work out together in the off season. It's not uncommon. AJ's not affiliated with any team yet, so hopefully Tuttle and Wes gave him some subtle sales pitches on UNI.

                        • There will be a decision in less than 3 weeks. I'd put the vegas odds on him being a panther at something like -350 and the field at like +250

                          It's just a gut feeling

I can't even seen people's signatures anymore. Any idea why?

Never mind - I just figured it out in my settings.

It was written in The Messenger by Eric Pratt. You can still Google the article and look at it online. https://www.messengernews.net/sports.../03/uni-fight/

                              • For what it's worth, 2 more "24/7 Sports Experts" have predicted Green to come here, and that includes a Cyclone beat writer who made this prediction a couple of days ago. Every passing day, it seems more and more likely that he comes here. Glad that he's making his decision within the month, because the wait is killing me. To say that he's an important piece to UNI's future is an understatement.
