  • Class of 2019 - Football Recruits

Per Twitter, Panthers have received a few early commitments for the class of 2019...

    - Kobe Rios, an OT from Rock Island. Had a bunch of FCS offers and a few MAC offers.

    - Jake McLaughlin, an OLB/DE out of Harlan.

    Welcome aboard boys.

Logan Wolf...a 6'5" WR from CF...commits to play both football and hoops at UNI.

I really like this kid at WR.

Nice frame, not particularly 'fast' but fast enough and an athletic jumper who will be a match-up nightmare for smaller corners. His dad was bigger (bulkier) and made a nice linebacker, Logan is not as big for putting pounds on. Should he go defense, he'd make a hell of a safety-but I like him at WR better.

Was impressed by his play during the state tourney and wondered about his basketball prospects. He played with the Barnstormers, no real offers, but that may have been because of the football angle.

Should be a hell of a student as well, mom is a medical doctor.

I have a sneaking suspicion this kid is gonna be a surprise on the court...on the upside.

Wolf had four catches for 137 yards and three TDs plus a 59-yrad punt reuturn for a TD last night in CF's 31-0 win over Ames in the season opener.

Was at this this game (well, I left at half time when it was 28-0), he was juking everyone out of their shoes. It was pretty great to watch

Ames is terrible, but it's great to see him provide that kind of production. Hope he has a huge year

So, 4 TDs total? He only touched the ball once on offense without scoring? Wow! Sounds like they might have given Ames some mercy by not throwing to him more.

Interesting to think of the size of our WR corps next year...

                  - Weston. 6'4"
                  - James. 6'3"
                  - Fossey. 6' 1"
                  - Wolf. 6'5"
                  - Ingoli. 6'5"
                  - Lane. 6'3"

Plus McShane and Rima...two burners. And Carey.

Well that's a story right there. Why is a kid with an ACC offer coming here?

That offer was from over a year ago so it could be possible he no longer has an offer to Syracuse. They’re also normally a bottom feeder in the ACC so that could be another reason. We’ve had kids in the past (the TE from CF Howard) who had offers from decent schools and picked us instead. I do feel like there is a little more to the story on this one. This kid went to literally any school he could for camp or visits. The offers from FBS schools are nice to see but maybe he didn’t show the progress needed to keep those offers. Maybe he was offered a chance to play as a true freshmen here and wanted that opportunity. It will be interesting to see what factored into him coming to UNI.

he went to camps or visits at some pretty high level schools....Alabama, Purdue, Texas A&M, Vandy, cincy, and some more. He definitely put himself out there to schools on tape.

This is a really nice get for the Panthers.

Talked to a friend today whose kids go to Christian Brothers College High School (CBC) in StL. They're a big rival of DeSmet Jesuit where Martens played. He said Martens is the real deal...can really sling it.

The Panthers had been going after Brett Gabbert...the brother of Blaine Gabbert. He was the QB at CBC and committed to Miami of Ohio a few months ago. We must have switched our attention to Martens from there.

Martens threw for 13 TDs and 6 ints and 60% completion percentage as senior. Injury shortened season I believe. Runs it a bit but not a lot.

                            Keep em coming Coaches.

Cameron Baker...a MLB/RB from CB Thomas Jeff...has committed to UNI.

                              Big kid...6'2" and 220.

Was recruited by Iowa and Indiana...as well as NDSU...but had shoulder surgery and other injury issues that hindered recruiting.

Panthers stayed on him and it paid off.

Guessing he goes as LB for the purple.
