It's like creating an all-star team. Take the best players from other schools.Originally posted by SteinPizza View PostJust saw a graphic about NC State in the Final Four. Every single starter for them is a transfer. That includes DJ Horne from Illinois State. Just another example of teams needing to get their **** together regarding the portal.

On the other hand, UConn and Purdue have about 3 total transfers between them. I think this brings up a good pointOriginally posted by SteinPizza View PostJust saw a graphic about NC State in the Final Four. Every single starter for them is a transfer. about developing a transfer strategy, though. NC State did do well bringing in a roster full and we saw the Trees do well
with many newcomers. However, as Mo State, Murray and SIU showed, it doesn't mean it will be successful.
There are a LOT of teams nationally that didn't do well that way and I took a look through. In fact, just narrowing it down to
JUST teams with 7 or more D1 transfers from AAC and higher conferences, there are 11 who didn't crack the top 150.
W Virginia -7 (156th)
Missouri - 8 (158th)
UTEP - 7 (178th)
Temple - 8 (191)
George Washington - 8 (192)
Georgetown - 9 (205)
Louisville - 7 (216)
Fresno St - 9 (232)
Southern Miss - 8 (239)
New Mexico State - 7 (289th)
DePaul - 7 (320)
Narrow it down to just 3-5 D1 transfers and include MAC, MVC, Sun Belt, C-USA teams and it's a long list.
I want to keep recruiting and developing good Freshman and hope we can lure transfers without becoming a feeder
for the P6 schools. Hopefully we can be a destination for kids from those schools who are blocked for playing time
and valuing game play over whatever NIL they can get by sitting on a big school's bench.

I agree. I’m not advocating abandoning high school recruits. In UNI’s case I hope Jake gets more aggressive in the portal. I can’t see him relying solely on transfers, nor should he. But, I’d like to see it more balanced between the two. Also, if you’re successful bringing in talented high school recruits, being somewhat of a feeder program is probably unavoidable under the current environment.Originally posted by BobCat View Post

Okani is a unique athlete that Yaklich couldn't figure out how to use. That team needed to get out and let Okani rim run and instead they slowed it down and ran bad half court offense.Originally posted by SteinPizza View PostRivera was quoted saying his final three were DePaul, UNI, and Richmond.
Tobi Okani from UIC has an impressive list of schools in contact. Xavier, Clemson, UCLA, Wisconsin, LSU, Florida State, Arkansas (pre-coaching change), West Virginia, St Bonaventure, Richmond amongst several others.
He'll be a productive P5 player.
