Of course Khan, I am sure you were "happy" with a 6-6 start after going to the NCAA tournament 3 of the last 5 years. Losing by 30 to Marquette and getting embarrassed at our "billboard" state university (who is having a not so good year themselves.)

I am really happy, and surprised that our team is doing so well. Like I said before, I will support this team regardless. But, if you truly think there were people "happy" or "satisfied" with a 6-6 start, we are going to have to agree to disagree.
Whatever. I guess I'll just go back to the opinion that there are some who will only be happy when they have something to complain about. Sorry the guys are playing more to their potential right now so you miss out on that little pleasure. I'm sure you'll be first in line as soon as there is any bump, after all, posting consecutive 18 win seasons is a mark of "failure" at a basketball powerhouse like UNI. Heck, we rank up there with North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, when it comes to basketball success. 18 wins has to be seen as an utter embarassment.

Say what you want about enjoying the success, I'll just chalk it up as your way of lying to yourself about your true colors.

Khan, if they are now playing up to their potential as you just stated, then you have to admit that they were NOT playing up to their potential earlier in the year. Therefore, you should not have been satisfied with a 6-6 start.

While I understand this, at the same time, with a team as young as we had at the start of the season, and with the little experience some of the key players of the team had playing in game situations with each other a rough start was to be expected. To throw KA, Johnny, and Ali in with JE, Dunham, Koch, Haak, Brown, etc... while telling Brown and Dunham your no longer starting, these new people are would cause some gelling issues as a team at first

I have said before and I will say it again. I judge success by more than just wins and losses. Do I think we could have been better than 6-6? Maybe. Did that mean I wasn't happy with the progress being shown? Not at all. Do I think this team learned a lot and is playing the way they are now because of those first 12 games? Absolutely. I was seeing signs that this team could do very well in conference games based on pre-season.

I saw them come back against UIC, despite being down to almost make a game of it late. I saw them bounce back from an ugly Marquette game with a determined effort against Auburn. I saw them rally despite horrendous shooting against Iowa State to force overtime. I saw them take care of lesser teams in Texas Southern, North Dakota, and South Dakota State. And finally I saw some signs of life after they sleep-walked through the first half against Indiana State and come from 21 down to force overtime. Should we have lost to Indiana State? No. Did we learn from it and become a better team? Yep.

Now, I obviously don't know where the rest of the season will lead. If the guys keep putting forth the effort they have the last two weeks, I think this could be a real fun ride. But as others have mentioned. We haven't yet faced Drake, Illinois State, and Bradley. Three teams in the top half of the year. We have managed to stay relatively healthy. But with a 10 player rotation, we have been able to work around a few dings. That doesn't mean that a long-term injury to somebody won't throw the whole rotation off.

I really wish we could keep on the positive side of things here, especially with us winning, but I take great exception to someone saying that people who were positive about this team were somehow "lying" to themselves. We can have arguments and disagreements on here, but people who have been shown to have been wrong shouldn't come back and try to justify their position by claiming those on the other side were just lying at the time. It makes them look shallow and isn't dignified, but maybe that's how they want it.

That's what bothered those people who were bothered earlier in the season.

Three new starting guards and no Eric Coleman. I can't imagine why they didn't just hit the floor and dominate. If only Jake had been prepared.

Jake has done a phenomenal job. He and the guys deserve tons of credit. You don't.

I have an admission to make to everyone on PN. During the 1st half of the Ind. St. game I sat in the McLeod Center and was through with Coach J. I quietly, to myself said he was a bad coach and we were very unprepared for that game. I may have even uddered a few ungodly words to myself. I am sorry to everyone. I feel much better getting this off my chest. I can now go to the McLeod on Wednesday night without a heavy heart!!!! Today I may have even developed a man-crush on him. UNI Coach Ben Jacobsen is AWESOME!!!!!!

If Jake keeps UNI playing like this for the rest of the year, Dannen will be making calls to those boosters who ponied up for Mac and Farley in order to keep Jake around.

This kind of ball is going to draw lots of attention. It only takes one REALLY good year for a coach to start to draw offers.
Winning is more fun than losing.
