I won't take much of your time, because a some of you need to get back to therapy...

When you hired Greg, UNI was is a downward spiral, He was able to bring a life and foundation back to your program.
He brought with him to UNI Ben Jacboson.

After bringing unparalleled success to UNI at that time, Greg moved on to ISU.
Leaving Ben (his best friend) a choice of staying behind or going with. Ben decided to stay and take his 1st Head Coaching job at any level. After the 1st two years according some of you (brain surgeons), he was a horrible Coach that knew nothing, clapped too much, and never should have been hired...? He now has had a Great 2 year run and everyone is Happy with Ben.

If Greg does not bring Ben, UNI never knows of him, hires him, or now can build that bronze statue of him.

Greg went on to ISU, where he has had a rough time, some bad luck, some questionable decisions, but has not meet expectations of some of ISU fan base. He was given a opportunity to move to Creighton, given a 9 + Million, 10 year contract (little better deal than 96 Alum has being a message board critic), by someone that does this for a living (Creighton's AD hires Coaches). I wish Greg and Ben nothing but the best, truth is they are both Good friends and I do like them more than the schools they work for, and I hope that the posters on this board get the therapy they need so they too can move on.

Don't forget, he beat LSU, and they went to the Final Four that year......

Dags is a funny guy, to say the least......It has been really funny to try to watch him, and other Mac cronies, try to tell people what they should think about Mac and his legacy.

They keep saying the same things, which nobody disputes....Mac built a program where there was none.....There are lots of examples of this in college basketball.

But the cronies keep talking about the same thing.....It's a one note symphony to these people....And if you question anything about the great times that were Mac at UNI, they bring the same nonsense that ol' Dags did in his post.....OR they talk about what a great alum Mac is.

And of course the best part is that since they can't really defend what Mac has done, they call other people names.....We all know that Dags has spent countless hours deleting posts that take shots at his "friends" on the site he moderates.

But I will give him credit, at least he finally admitted that he sniffs after the coaches and not the university. Like a proud father....sniff.....

You are clearly lighting your own fires just so you can attempt to put them out and then claim to be the savior of all that is good and just. Unfortunately, I probably just handed you another match.

Sure, Dags and others are supporting their position of defending McDerrmott. Aren't the McDerrmott bashers doing the same thing in reverse? Pot meet kettle???

Also, there are examples of programs being resurrected from the dead. However, they are rare. It's a true feat to accomplish. Those who are diminshing Mac's contribution are practicing revisionist history.

Also, what's wrong with Dags rooting for the coaches and not the schools? I was in the same position when Mac left for ISU, and TA left for Kansas. Both ISU and KU are non-entities to me - don't hate them but have nothing for them either. I also don't live in either state, and Dags doesn't live in Iowa. I'm guessing Dags feels the same way about UNI, and there's nothing wrong with that.

The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

By almost any measure, Northern Iowa (and perhaps Creighton) is a better basketball program than Iowa State at the moment. So why was Doug good enough for the Valley schools, but not good enough for Iowa State?

“Having experienced both (leagues), I think I offer a perspective there that not many can,” Greg McDermott said.

The difference between the Big 12 and the Valley isn't necessarily a matter of skill, it's a matter of athletic ability.

“To compete night-in and night-out in the Big 12, you have to have athletes,” coach McDermott said.

In a one-game scenario, McDermott said, the Valley's upper echelon can beat the Big 12 elite. UNI can upset Kansas.

“But it's strapping up and playing Texas one night and Kansas the next and Kansas State the next and Oklahoma State the next,” McDermott said. “You have to have a level of athlete to get through 16 games of that.”

So after he leaves Iowa State, he figures out that the needs a "level of athlete?" I would have figured that a brilliant strategist such as ol' Greggie would have learned that after he said TWICE that he didn't understand the level of athlete that he needed to recruit to compete in the Big 12.

Wow, what a joke he was at Iowa State. It is still remarkable that the AD at Creighton took his handlers call.....But that is good for us....

But wait, he is THE reason that UNI has had any success in basketball.......There Dags, and u, you can stop the personal attacks.....I worked in the mantra for you and the rest of the cronies...

But please feel free to continue to attack me personally......Based on how your boy's winning percentage has dropped from a whopping 67 % in Division 3 to a whopping 45% in a real conference....I understand that your personal insults are ALL that you have......

You better see if he needs his car detailed or something there sport. Maybe you can pick up his dry cleaning while your at it.

Then maybe you can clean all of those coach of the year trophies, and conference championships that he gained due to his brilliant coaching strategy while your at it.... That should take at least three minutes.
