I'm sentimental too, but in all seriousness, you can't just sign a letter of intent and then back out of it in April and expect all things will be peachy because your new coach is friends with your old coach . . .

It has to be hard for you to type with one hand.

You had better get your subscription to all of the Creighton sites so you can defend all of the coaching blunders Mac makes.......Again

Doug is gone. I understand (kind of) the desire by Doug to play for his old man (though personally I would have thought it would be easier to play for a close family friend than my father). I thought that we should make him sit but it would be fun to watch him get pounded by Luke and schooled by Jake Koch who would be able to match up with him for the next three years.
I like this. More motivation to beat down Creighton. In my mind this cements Creighton as our number 1 rival.

Question: Has Mac actually ever beaten Creighton?

I know he never won an MVC championship (not tourney)

We hands down have the better coach in Jake. 2 mvc championships, one sweet sixteen and counting. I love where our program is right now!!! Screw doug mcdoormat we will win without him.

Dags, an honest question - what could Greg do that would not have you defending him?

I do not spite him or his son going to CU. If that floats their boat, fine. The issue I have is breaking off the stick in his "best friend". I can honestly say the following - if I was in the same position as Mac, with a son going to play for my best friend, here's what I would tell him:

First, honor your word to Jake. Play for him full tilt. If you really are set on playing for me, then you are going to sit for two years. That's life. Your no more special than any other college player. I might be able to be talked into one year, but I really doubt it. Honestly, I would be disappointed with my son for asking otherwise. Choices have consequences.

Being a coach is easier than being a Dad. Right now, he is publicly wrapping himself in the later, when he is really pursuing the first.

                  Agreed 100%.

During the presser he even said "I can say, not as a coach but as a father, that Doug will be playing for me next year." He seems to have an issue in terms of keeping his coaching life and personal life separate.

I feel the exact same way.

And I was almost sure a guy like Greg McDermott was going to do the same thing. Boy, was I wrong.

Making Doug sit out two years may actually harm UNI more than if he played right away. Big men take quite a while to adapt to the college game and Doug's body IMO is not ready for the MVC.

I'd rather take my chances against Doug as a 18-22 year old than as a 20-23 year old.

Would you be wiling to trade Jordan's freshman year if it means we were able to have him next year. I sure would.

I would too...however, the difference between where Doug is in terms of being grown into his body and this point and where Jordan was at the same point isn't even close.

6'7 is much easier to grow into than 7'1 after a 7 inch spurt in one year

I disagree. Doug is a 195lb stick. He will get nowhere in the post against guys like O'Rear, Durley, Weems, and T. Lewis.

This is what Coach Jake said about DM last weekend.

In the weight room, he's got a lot of catching up to do. He's got that body like Adam Koch had when he got here - just kind of long and thin.

I understand that. However, needing to hit the weight room is a whole lot different and easier to play around than not being comfortable in your bodies movements and how it reacts to your size.

There is a big difference between filling out a frame and having to mature and grow into the frame.

I'm not saying Jordan didn't need a redshirt. I'm saying BOTH are perfect redshirt candidates.

Agreed. However, what I'm saying is that it would be easier for Doug to produce without it early in the career than Jordan. Doug isn't going to be a post player anyway, he can avoid most of the heavy contact that Jordan couldn't.
