So players from academies, prep schools finish hs then go to an academy or prep before going to college?
I understand other cc or college transfers are older...

Some kids go to prep schools in order to get their academics up to snuff. Some go to enhance their stock. Usually they go following HS graduation, otherwise they can go earlier than that. There does tend to be some scrutiny in how some of these 'academies' and 'prep schools' pop up randomly. I do think the majority of them are established and legit, but some aren't as altruistic.
We've had prep school kids...Chris Oliveira is one example. UNI has recruited others (Jordair Jett comes to mind).
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

Outside of WSU, how many of them have ever actually won anything of substance? When was the last time any of them won anything? Last time anyone in the conference won a conference title other than UNI or WSU? Last tournament title? Last NCAA win? They've all been recruiting this way for a while. Don't get too worked up about it

          Creighton. The answer is Creighton.

I'm not getting worked up! Just interesting this year that other teams have so many transfers and prep school players.

Transfers have been going up every year recently, more than 700 last year or about 2 per team in Division 1.

UNI has done well with getting transfers that fit in: Crawford, Godfread, Rodenberg, Washpun, Jesperson all during the McDermott/Jacobson era. Not all were superstars, but each added something. Carlton Reed was really the only 'bust' transfer.

We have not been as successful landing jucos, with Ali being the one who has had the most success along with Schneiderman. Many more busts: Matt Culliver, Nate Buchheit, Kasey Semler, Taylor Olson, Aarius Austin, though only Culliver and Austin were scholarship jucos.

The only one we have brought in through the prep school route is Chris Olivier-and that didn't work out either.
Number of times on Sports Illustrated cover:
Ben Jacobson coached teams = 2
UNI teams coached by everyone ban thinks is better = 0

I thought about putting a "Current conference member" disclaimer.

The other answers? Indiana State was the sole bid in 2011. Bounced in opening round.

After that I think we have to go back to 08 for Drake for another non UNi/WAU/CU bid and 06 for a non UNi/WSU/Creighton win from someone other than us 3.

We should give zero damns about how Missouri State or anyone else is recruiting.

Guess who Jared Stansbury on Cyclone Fanatic is reporting as attending tonight's Iowa State/Kansas game?

If I had a nickel for each recruit who attended a big UNI game that didn't play here...
To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

I just don't see him going to ISU. They've already got two quality Point Guards (4 star and 3 star) lined up in the 17 class. If he went there, there would be so little playing time for him, not to mention that ISU is not going to be near as sure thing to make the tournament as they have been in the last few years. I'm not saying that they're not going to make the tournament, I'm saying that they're not going to be as good.

Compared to us and Iowa, who are both going through rebuilding years, Iowa State would look like the least attractive offer to me. I could go to UNI and play four years, and contribute in a major way, maybe (probably) starting as a freshman, or I can go to Iowa and not play very much, but be on a team that coasts to the dance for 3 or 4 years. Or ISU, in which I would be third in the pecking order for all but one year, and it wouldn't be guaranteed to go the tournament every year.

Unless he just really falls in love with the campus, I don't see it happening.

That's great for AJ. Hopefully his visits can be used as to see what other schools are doing and the amenities that are out there. Whether or not he signs with UNI, his dad should be able to compare UNI's offerings versus the competition.

Hopefully AJ enjoys the process and takes full advantage of all of his visits.

Is Iowa State considering recruiting a big or is Prohm going to go with 13 guards on scholarship?

Well I'm sure Hilton Magic made a good impression on AJ and the other recruits they had there. Constant booing, yelling obscenaties at anything and everything, including your own team at some points, pointing lasers at your opponents (https://twitter.com/bill_lederer/sta...98244873175040), and throwing ice onto the court (https://twitter.com/mctait/status/821196424989786112). Who wouldn't want to play in that environment? /s

Oh, and a bunch of people leaving early in a 2 position game against the number 2 team in the country with 2 minutes to go.

LOL If you're going to make a list of reasons why NOT to play bball at ISU, Hilton's atmosphere should be no where near that list. That's probably ISU's best selling point when it comes to Basketball.
I'm sure they paraded him past the 100 tents outside Hilton that camped out all week for this game. Passionate fans yelling and booing?? Oh the humanity...
Anybody who watches college basketball would say Hilton is a top 15 atmosphere in the nation and top 2 in the Big 12, and averages over 14,000 fans/game which ranks it top 15.

Depending on who you're comparing ISU to, you can literally put anything on that list of reasons why you shouldn't play at there and I won't argue, except for Hilton's atmosphere. It's almost as bad as saying ISU fans suck at tailgating for football.

This is not what he experienced at Hilton tonight.
