Football recruiting is way more art than science. This list could be hundreds and hundreds of guys long.

I think the trainwreck already has happened.

Why are we getting all excited for this guy. He is going to end up at Iowa anyways. I hate Iowa.

Why get excited for anyone, ever? Why the heck would they want to come here anyway?

It remains my mindset that I will be shocked if AJ goes anywhere other than UNI if athletics is the deciding factor. He's a lifelong Panther fan. He isn't going to get offers from any blue bloods. He isn't going to get offers from any team that is more than marginally better than UNI.

If he goes somewhere else it will be for academic reasons and we have no control over that so why worry about it? If Northwestern or Stanford offer he and his parents may decide that's an opportunity he cannot pass up. Life after bb is coming in 4-5 years, he isn't going to make the NBA.

That's the exact same thing I thought the last time a D1 coach's kid was considering UNI.

I agree. I am kind of worried about Wisconsin. It feels like there are a lot of guy UNI offers early, then they swoop in and taken him away. According to verbal commits, they still have a '17 and '18 scholarship available, although they do '16 and '17 PG's already. Who knows, I only say that because the history they seem to have.

Stanford is also starting to sniff around. That is the one that I find most problematic...

Understandable, but Wisconsin would also have some outstanding selling points.

Stanford trumps all of that and then some

Academics, sure. But we're talking a basketball player, and a program that's been to a FF in recent years, developed some NBA guys, etc. Also, his dad would be very familiar with the Wisconsin program given the historically close ties of the staffs, similar systems, etc.

The average student....Standford is a no brainer decision. A basketball player, maybe a different story. Either way, he wouldn't go wrong.
