Yeah, but Wisconsin and Iowa State have a lot to sell. ISU has a history of choking in the tourney, but they've been nationally relevant for several years, and just had two guys taken in the NBA Draft. Wisconsin - recent Final Four. It doesn't much more nationally relevant than that. Purdue's been in the national conversation in the past, and is usually decent. KG's dad would definitely know all about Purdue's history of being good.

Nothing against UNI, but that's stiff competition assuming he gets offers from all.

As long as it's not a "rival" of UNI, I will be happy for him doing what is right for him.

      Wisconsin, Purdue, Stanford, etc...? Fine.
Iowa, Iowa State, Creighton, Minnesota, Nebraska (last two aren't rivals but F them), etc... and I'd have as big of a "meltdown" as I could about an 18 year old making a choice for him.

You've seen us offer some more 18' kids lately so I think the writings on the wall.
I don't agree that the his we offer other guys man's the ship had sailed on AJ. We have a '17 ride open and I believe 4 '18 rides open (I think Rhodes is on scholarship?). Plenty of rides available. With the offers AJ has now, I'd say he comes here, but if the big boys (Wisconsin) come calling he's gone. I'm betting he's Wisconsins back up plan of they don't get Hauser. As a UNI fan growing up, I'd be kind of surprised if he goes to a rival. Coaches can't do anything at this point. He knows more about this program than any other recruit ever.
To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

If he doesn't come, I worry a little about what Coach Jake thinks.
          -His dads on the staff.
-He grew up wearing panther gear.
-He grew up as the panther ball boy.
-He grew up cheering for the panthers.
Coach Jake has to be thinking. If I can't get him. I probably will never get the elite player that can take us to the final four. Jake is extremely competitive. I'm thankful how loyal he has been, but once his kids graduate high school he may just want to see what he can do with 4 star players.

My biggest hope was watching Allen Lazard get recruited in football. He still entertained and went on college visits to major programs. Even once he was committed. When asked about it he simply told people that he was an 18 year old kid and he gets to go to a Notre Dame game and stand on the sideline. Why did Lazard end up going to Iowa State? Because his dad played for them and he grew up going to ISU games.

You have to think while AJ was traveling with the team (UNI) during ALL the tourney runs that he fell in love with UNI, and deep down has dreamed about taking us to the next level.

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know what kind of relationship the UNI and ISU coaching staff's have with each other? I got the impression that there was a mutual respect and maybe even a casual friendship between Hoiberg and Coach Jacobson when Fred was at Iowa State. In the context of recruiting, if ISU does end up offering and if AJ does want to play in a Power 5 conference, I wonder if his father and Jake would steer him in ISU's direction instead of a school like Wisconsin or Purdue.

As a dual fan, I would love to see AJ wear the Purple and Gold first and foremost, but ISU would be my close second.

I do my part Seriously, just trying to lay out some things logically, versus being too negative, or a bunch of Kool Aid drinking BS. If you don't agree, so be it.

Speaking of Kool Aid, one of you enterprising bar owners should whip up a tasty beverage. High Life Lounge has already beaten you to Tang.

Now that TJ is gone, I don't think there's much of a relationship at all. Prohm and his staff really don't have any ties to the area and they've never recruited the same areas.

I've heard that Jake and Fran are actually pretty friendly at this point and if Patrick wouldn't have blown up the past 18 months or so, Fran was going to steer him this way.

And yes, Jake and The Mayor were/are pretty close. It's too bad that Carol decided she wasn't going to live in Ames anymore, could have had a really good program in Ames and some great games with them...

Juwan being on the roster has some impact as well. Does AJ want to come in play 2 guard for two years, or will Juwan move into that role?

Yeah...I'm sure Jake's gonna encourage a prize recruit who's the son of one of his assistants to go to Iowa State.

Good question. I think that the development of the team this year and how the young guys play will have a huge impact on AJs decision. The young guys show potential to be something special and it might seal the deal.
