I think he could be a valuable basketball player at UNI, but he’s going to be a phenomenal football player.

Man, I hope this turns out to not be the case. I hope Wolf is busy with football long after December 1st every year he is at UNI.Originally posted by BCPanther View PostGoing to be tough for him to see the floor when he won't join the team until around December 1st each year"Well, that escalated quickly."

I’ve heard that a few of the games have had similar scores. Some outside of here were complaining that a couple of teams have run deliberate slow down, almost four corners style offenses. I know the objective is to win and advance, but is it now in vogue to run that crap? Let your guys play, at least within the context of your offense. Or, institute a shot clock.Originally posted by BCPanther View Post12 & 10 for Noah Carter as Senior beats Iowa City West and Patrick McCaffery in an UGLY 39-36 game.
I didn’t see the Senior game, so no idea if the negativity about slow play was directed at them.

I read that there was 75 shots taken, essentially one every 25-30 seconds, but the teams combined to shoot 38% from the field and 16% from 3...this game was not an example of needing a shot clockOriginally posted by SteinPizza View Post

Sounds correct, but I’d still be in favor of s high school shot clock. 30 seconds or a little more is fine.Originally posted by Wxcpanther View Post

This may be an unpopular take on what I've seen from Carter in the 1st half thus far, but it hasn't been great. I don't know if he is tired or hurt, but his overall effort and defense that he has played has been less than what I was expecting to see. This is the first I am seeing him play outside of highlight videos, so I could just be catching him on an off night. Obviously his stats on the season have been outstanding.

Guess that's why they play 4 quarters. He looked much better in the 2nd half and now they are in OT against Waukee.Originally posted by PantherAlum09 View PostThis may be an unpopular take on what I've seen from Carter in the 1st half thus far, but it hasn't been great. I went to the Dubuque SR vs Waukee game. Carter was reasonably quiet, then all of sudden took the game over for a brief stretch in the 3rd. Waukee seemed to lapse a little on D, and he took advantage. For the entire game before that stretch, and after, they had a lot of bodies around him when he touched the ball, forcing him to take some tough shots (and getting a couple swatted into the stands). His teammates did a nice job picking up his offense, which is why they won. I would’ve liked to have seen Carter drive, but he never put the ball on the floor. Everything was either a post move or a 3 point shot. He does have some hops though, and appeared to be a good rebounder.Originally posted by PantherAlum09 View Post

Waukee has 2 sophomores to watch, Devries (Darian’s son) and Sandfort. Devries didn’t do a lot, but Sandfort hit a few 3s and gaurded Carter for a lot of the game. Both are roughly 6’5 or 6’6 and skinny, but they appear to be good athletes with some growing to do. Sandfort has been linked to us in a DMR article, along with Minnesota and Indiana.

Cole Henry had 16 (on 8-11 shooting) and 9 as Osky advances to the championship. Unfortunately, also 9 turnovers. Had some great passing and ball movement early - it barely touched his hands and it was on to the open teammate - then got a little tough later. Fumbled a few passes, and started getting swarmed when in the high post. Didn’t quite seem ready for it and led to a few unforced mistakes. He’s clearly got a lot of passion, and attitude wise, I’d take him over Foster all day.

Tonight I quadrupled the number of high school boys games I’ve seen this year, so I’m no expert. The stalling was very tiresome. Anytime a team had the ball with under about 1:15 they tried to hold for the last shot. When you consider they play 4 quarters that’s up to 5 minutes of game time. In the Dubuque Waukee game, Dubuque won the tip in OT and they appeared they were going to be content dribbling out the full 4 minute OT waiting for one shot. They did eventually get a driving lane with about 2:30 to go. Once Waukee got down they forced more possessions by fouling and/or pressing.Originally posted by SteinPizza View Post

I wouldn't be too worried. He's just getting over a broken hand and doesn't have full use of it yet. That's also part of the bad shooting. Breaking your dominant hand as a basketball player is no bueno.Originally posted by UNI Ka-Bullseye View PostCole Henry had 16 (on 8-11 shooting) and 9 as Osky advances to the championship.
